Simple Pedicure Routine

A guide to keeping your feet in good condition using the Cool Feet Pedicure System

Step 1 - a relaxing soak
Add a capful of Cool Feet Softening Soak to a bowl of warm water (do not use aerated spa units, as too much foam will be produced). Stir to produce soft foam. Alternatively use Cool Feet Deep Sea Salts, adding 1-2 teaspoon size scoops to a footbath of warm water (aeration can be used). Soak the feet for 5-15 minutes. Relax while the solution thoroughly cleanses and softens the skin and nails.

Step 2 - cutting and filing the nails
Remove one foot from the soak and dry it thoroughly. Carefully clip the toenails straight across. Do not cut the nails too short or close to the cuticle as this can lead to ingrown toenails. You may cut the big toenail slightly shorter if you are athletic or wear closed-toe high heel shoes. Round the corners with an emery board - always filing in one direction. Gently push back the cuticle with a cuticle/orangewood stick wrapped in cotton to protect delicate skin. Put the first foot back into the soak, while repeating this procedure on the other.

Step 3 - callous removal
Dry feet thoroughly and remove any dry skin by gently massaging Cool Feet Stimulating Scrub onto entire foot and working into calloused areas. Gently sand with a foot file where there is excessive callous build-up but be careful not to over do it as thickness of the skin is nature’s natural way of protecting feet from wear and tear. After filing use a dry towel to brush away dead skin.

Step 4 - mask and massage
Now apply Cool Feet Rejuvenating Pedimask onto the foot with a generous layer to the top of the ankle and wrap in a towel for 10 minutes. Rinse thoroughly with warm water. Apply Cool Feet Massage Lotion generously and with long sweeping motion and firm pressure massage onto the foot and lower leg. Rub firmly until the lotion is absorbed, then do the same to the other foot.

The Cool Feet Massage Lotion contains a unique blend of essential oils and when used in massage, can help to reduce problems of circulation and soothe stiff joints. Alternatively massage Cool Feet Invigorating Gel liberally into feet, legs and ankles for quick and immediate results.

Step 5 - apply nail polish
Wipe the nails with a tissue to remove any traces of the massage lotion, then apply base coat and your favourite nail colour to really show off your feet.

Step 6 - Finishing touch
To complete your pedicure - or indeed to give your feet a special treat at any time – apply Cool Feet Revitalising Spray liberally to keep your feet cool, refreshed and feeling healthy.

Foot Massage Techniques

Leg massage

1 Leg massage
Begin by warming massage lotion in palms of hands. Glide hands over legs, keeping pressure off shinbone. Never break contact with skin during massage. Try to use a continuous action during the massage while moving from one step to the next.

Relax the foot

2 Relax the foot
Rest heel of your palms around both sides of anklebone. In a back and forth vigorous motion, loosen foot until foot moves freely. This relaxes the foot for the rest of the massage.

Spirals

3 Spirals
Using firm, rotation movements, begin at the instep and continue to the centre of the toes. Move back to the instep and repeat movement. Move back to the heel and repeat the movement.

Foot circles

4 Foot circles
Slide your hand to the ankle. Hold ankle and rotate the foot. Use a figure 8 motion or large circles.

Toe circles

5 Toe Circles
Begin with the large toe and move toward the little toe. Rotate each toe first counterclockwise and then clockwise.

Kneading the arch

6 Kneading the arch
Make a fist and use knuckles to knead the arch with firm pressure. Twist your wrist back and forth.

Thumb circles

7 Thumb circles
Turn foot so that the toes face straight up. Massage the sole of the foot by rotating your thumbs in small, circular movements. Move from the heel to the toes.

Squeeze tension out of the foot

8 Squeeze tension out of the foot
Place fingers on top of foot and thumb in the arch of the foot. Squeeze firmly towards toes. Repeat.

Tapping

9 Tapping
End your massage by lightly tapping the entire foot with your fingertips. This is a gentle way of breaking contact with the skin.
